We are proud to announce that this summer we are celebrating 8 years of successful Soil Association silver accreditation in their food for life scheme.
We were the first nursery or school caterer to receive this award!
It means a great deal to us as ethically sourcing local, fresh and organic produce to use on our menus is at the heart of our business. Most of all we love that this award recognises the amount of freshly prepared meals we produce, as we’ve always said we make everything from scratch from baked beans to beetroot brownie.
We are pleased to announce that the children at Little Acorns and Stepping Stones new nursery in St George will be enjoying our meals from May!
We wish the team great success in their new venture.
This month we are celebrating 5 years since we relocated to our purpose-built kitchens in Windmill Hill.
We love working here and the local area and we have forged close ties with Windmill Hill City Farm and even provide them with food for their nursery from time to time to help.
“We are really happy with the quality of the food and the variety of the menu. All dietary needs are met and staff are always friendly and helpful. Its lovely to hear the children ask for seconds.”
Mark — Food for Life Catering
New guidelines have been launched on food and drink in early years. On Monday the School Food Trust published the long awaited guidelines on nutrition for preschool children. As you may already be aware, Bristol is one of five local authorities which will be piloting the new food guidelines.
Early Years Catering is the main provider of meals to Bristol City Council preschools and because of this we have been heavily involved in the development and piloting of these standards. Some of our recipes have even been used in the guidance issued. We think it is a really positive step in the right direction in tackling many of the health issues in both pre-school and school aged children.
Our menus and meals already meet these new guidelines are I’m sure you will want to share this news with the parents/carers of the children attending you nursery. They can be confident that the food their child receives each day at your nursery is full of the essential nutrients and is helping them to develop good eating habits and give them the best possible start in life. There is more information available via the link below but if you have any questions or parents want further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
